I really enjoy metal shows, more than any other actually. So when a good friend of mine said he had an extra ticket to see this Christian metal band, i thought, "why the hell not?"

I was mistaken. While the music was decent & the sound was REALLY decent [good venue: The Door, Dallas], the concert attendees were insane. It was as if all of their pent up Christian repressions were taken out in a giant storm of thrashing, punching, shoving, & masculine chest-beating.

Don't get me wrong, I'm known for holding my own against mosh pits [in fact, I've started them in the past], but this was a whole other story. I was surrounded [keep in mind i'm 5'3] by big, bald, sweaty men who were so into this band it was almost sick. Living Sacrifice was nothing, however, to what came next.....

Demon Hunter.

The mosh pit was pushing 20 ft. wide & there were two of them. I am now surrounded, hahah.

My beast of a friend is doing his best to keep the distance between me & these testosterone bashings, but it was difficult. & all the while I'm also attempting to keep this young girl from being trampled as she was basically abandoned by her father who brought her there.

Anyway, just be forewarned that just because it's Christian metal, it doesn't mean that it'll be any calmer than any other metal show; in fact, prepare for the worst.

Much love & happiness your way, Chlo.

I'm curious, how quiet were the other metal shows you enjoy? I've never seen/heard of a metal mosh pit that wasn't insane, insane, I tell you!

Well, I've seen Gwar & Cradle of Filth with the viva la bands tour & Mindless Self-Indulgence which was absolutely NOTHING compared to this show.

I'm telling you. It was bad.

As stated in a previous post, I am new to MOG so this is my first musical post.
I feel an obligation to introduce everyone to a band rising from Australia: The Red Paintings.
Here is their bio; I couldn't write it better myself, you know:
Visionary Brisbane-based performer Trash McSweeney sees colour in his music. Ever since suffering a near-fatal seizure eight years ago, Trash set out to share with the world a lifetime's worth of ideas about what he has seen and felt. By taking to his guitar, piano, and notebook, The Red Paintings were officially born upon the dawn of the new millennium.
Based in Australia, though having been fortunate enough to already tour much of the globe, The Red Paintings are a five-piece group incorporating additional choral, orchestral, and performance art features wherever possible. Their shows amalgamate sonics and optics to create a living, breathing canvas that stimulates the senses and minds of listeners and viewers alike. Once jacked into your brain, The Red Paintings' sounds evoke everything from child-like lullabies of the future, to tearing, biting, alternative rock numbers. They are sometimes compared to multi-faceted acts like Radiohead, Muse, and The Arcade Fire, and their appeal reaches baroque-pop steam-punks, metal-heads, indie-rock fanatics, and beyond.

The Red Paintings really do inspire light within sound. While listening, one is drawn to other forms of art, a new way to discover & explore. It's quite fascinating.
&, in my opinion, the greatest thing of all is their concert dynamic. They invite people to attend, carrying along their canvases & paints. They advertise for human canvases, allowing people to paint on one another as they experience what the music has to stir in their imaginations.
If you're an avid music & art fan simultaneously, The Red Paintings is a band for you.

Much happiness your way, chlo.

Welcome to MOG and don't be nervous. People are pretty nice here.

You might get more responses if you post something about a piece of music you like. Or you can check who's been listening to your favorites by clicking on any track, and see if they want to be trusteds. I met almost everyone I know here because we obsessed about the same piece of music at one time or another.
