What is more relaxing than dreaming of a tropical island? Being on a real island perhaps? In my list over albums with that nice chill out island sound I have added Deep Forest's fifth album Pacifique from 2000. It was sadly not as successful as Eric Mouquet and Michel Sanchez' previous releases, but all Deep Forest fans will find a lot to enjoy here. It was the soundtrack to the Frensh film Le Prince du Pacifique . The songs are surprisingly ambient, much more than other a... MORE

Been away from the PC in a while! ATTENTION!
You might be interested in hearing this track from two groups of artists that need more lulz and love - Vampire Weekend and Chromeo . Ok I'm sick of being sarcastic now so i'll just go out and say it, everyone has been waiting on this track to drop, and I feel it was in good reason. This track is a little bit better than most Chromeo tracks i've heard and also quite a good Vampire Weekend track making it a winner.

Vampire Weekend is everywhere. They went from rocking house parties on Columbia University's campus to playing shows all around the globe, even taking the time to cover Plastic Bertrand in France . They have blown up since I saw and met them at their release show back at Bowery Ballroom in January. I knew big things would happen to them, and they truly have become the biggest band of 2008. From hipsters, to kids following MTV, Vampire Week... MORE

Today’s finds continue to show our favorite bands covering our favorite oldies! Earlier: The Killers covered Cindy Lauper! Last time we heard Vampire Weekend covering a song overseas, they tackled Fleetwood Mac’s "Everywhere" — earlier this week in Paris, our Ivy League punks took a stab at "Ça Plane Pour Moi," made famous by the Belgian new wave [...]

DO YOU WANT SOME COOKIES??!!
Did he say "Flamenco?" I have some really transcendent vocal flamenco music to share and compare. More about that another time. Now, listen to this lady. I really have to go to bed or I'd get into some Lila Downs (Mexican). Maybe soon. Also, I'd like to explore Portugal more and also Euskadi (Baskland). I have one fave Euskaldun band. Can you guess?
Heard the National Public Radio story on Morning Edition this morning.
There are so many great voices to be heard. So many from the Iberian Peninsula, I think, eh, Soundwaves?. Comments anyone?

While at a tour stop in Paris at La Cigale played a cover of Plastic Bertrand's 'Ça plane pour moi'. The song by the Belgian artist was released in 1977, you can hear him perform it here on Top of the Pops . You can see Vampire Weekend's cover below. (Thanks to Abeano Blog for finding it)
