This just in and I just HAD to share it. From Yahoo: A US judge has been hailing his "horrible punishment" for youngsters who continually play their music too loud. Judge Paul Sacco, in Fort Lupton, Colorado, makes teen noise polluters sit in a locked room and listen to the Barry Manilow hit Copacabana for a whole hour at full volume. They are also made to sit through records by Dolly Parton, Karen Carpenter and, er, Barney the Dinosaur. Judge Sacco says it has helped... MORE

Well the guys have finally gotten it together and it's here. The Greatest Rock N' Roll Band In The World, The Supersuckers, released their new studio album Get It Together today.
The twelve track album gives us a little taste of each side of the band's unique blend of classic rock, punk, and country.
The record kicks off with a classic Supersuckers riff on "What It Takes" and keeps pumping hard for most of the album. "Anything" is the album's gritty road trip song... MORE

Holy shizznit, M.I.A. is havin a baby! I'd heard the rumours months ago, but forgot all about it coz I thought they were just rumours. But, apparently she's talkin about it now. Can you imagine how incredibly sweet it would be to have Maya as yer mum? A homegrown revolutionary with a uber-famous goddess for a mum?! I'm almost jealous! Anyway, I found out from AtariCoolKids who seems to have heard it from Spin Magazine. (there's so much killer content in MMN, I'm ser... MORE

I take extremely long hiatuses. This happens when you're a full-time student and run a radio station's financial goings-on. But, I still have a passion for music and writing about it. As we approach the end of the year, I'd like to do a list of my own. Sunday, I drove 5 and half hours from my apartment in Blacksburg back to my place of origin in Chesapeake, VA. School has been extremely involved this year, and coming home for a respite certaintly didn't hurt. On the driv... MORE
Ahoy Mogmeisters!
This video review of the Australian MGMT features special guest star, Clara the Nu-Rave Indie Band Guitarist and Teenager.
And there's more! Much more! We've got
* a mortifying anecdote about David Lynch!
* the fabulously entertaining tale of a stunned kangaroo!
* an awful accusation concerning Enrique Iglesias!
We also found some time to actually comment on the album. Hey, we thought we'd try something new this week.
Enjoy the vid!

I love the lo-fi goodness of Portishead's latest opus, Third. At a time when most bands are trying to sound slicker, glossier and more robotic, P-head keeps it real with gritty production, old-school drum machines and raw vocals. The videos thus far have also embraced lo-fi production techniques that beautifully blend with the music. Check out the latest vid for "Magic Doors": Stereogum has the best quality version so far, so that's why I used their v... MORE
When Ritchie Sambora and Jon Bon Jovi walked onto the stage of the 1989 Video Music Awards toting nothing but a couple of acoustic guitars, they spawned an entire series of shows on MTV, which, in most cases, involved musicians playing songs pretty much the way they'd always played those songs. The only difference was they were playing on acoustic instruments, and, given the amped up acoustic guitars of the day, really only meant that the sound wasn't processed. Some mus... MORE
A couple of rock's heaviest hitters have both released new albums within the last few days: McCartney (as The Fireman) with 'Electric Arguments' Axl Rose (as Guns N' Roses) with 'The Chinese Democracy'. But what would the results have sounded like if they'd put their collective noggins together for a team-up (Maxl's Metal Hammer?) Perhaps something like... DJ Jimmi James - Sgt. We've seen the signs the last couple of months or so: less posts in general, less comments on the posts that are made. A lack of interesting content all around. Technical glitches, missing posts, buttons that don't work. We've been gettin frustrated at these problems, and also at the PTB for various reasons. And many of us have decided that MOG is on its last legs. we've written our obituaries and moved on. Well, I'm not ready to do that yet. I love this place.... MORE
