If anyone suspects that this is a deliberate attempt to regain some of the 'indie cred' points I forfeited due to the recent Broadway musical post, my reply would go something like this: Bloody right! My kids absolutely love the "Slideshow" function on the iPhoto application on my computer. They sit like raccoons caught in a trash can looking up at it and it gives me a chance to expose them to "Daddy's Tunes". The main reason I started this little 10 song project is that I wanted to know why these songs, in particular, move me so much. They're far from the best songs in my collection or the ones I respect the most or consider most "important." They're just the ones that happen to affect some bizarre psychological, subjective reaction that I can't understand, but makes me want to hear them again almost immediately after they're over. I bought some "Throwing Muses University" bumperstickers off the throwingmusic website a while back. I think they're cool and yes I'm a diehard fan but I'm still debating puting a 10 year old bumper sticker on a 1 year old car. I like the album a lot, even "snakeface" (which if you noticed was on the Empire Records soundtrack, yikes), but my all time fave is House Tornado. I finally broke down and visited YouTube late last week...what can I say? I was bored to tears at work. Now I'm probably one of the biggest Throwing Muses junkies around and I had a field day watching all of the old videos and interviews. Let's face it. I'm officially addicted to YouTube.
