Hi everyone! Sorry that I've not been posting much, but new responsibilities at work have managed to suck away the spare time it takes me to think of things to say. You know, because you guys deserve to not have to read something tossed-off, just so I can say that I posted something. The last two days, in order to try to shake the musical doldrums some more, I've made an effort to listen to albums that I've gotten based on MOGgers' recommendations, but haven't given a fu... MORE

More Black Angels as they score this film trailer for "At War" . I'm posting this not as a supporter or opponent of war, but as a way to help show the harsh realities of it. ...From the Website: At War is a documentary film shot and directed by Scott Kesterson, who spent a year embedded with US forces in Afghanistan. The film is produced by David Leeson, Pulitzer Prize recipient and currently Senior Producer of Video for The Dallas Morning News. The film is subj... MORE

When I find myself watching to much CNN, i get angry. So allow me to protest via song if I may...with best protest song I have heard in a long time!
OH, and I found out that the Black Angels are coming to Columbus on April 3rd...score!
There's this album that I've got tied really tight to my memory. The first memory is coming home late one night with a bunch of friends after a night out. Buzzed, happy I got a ride home, and very tired, the music was perfect. In the darkened car, we sat, each pondering the locked up homes and stores we passed. The Black Angel's Passover release is the absolute best music for a slow-motion pre-fight movie scene. It's got all the grit, grime and dark, heavy sounds nec... MORE
The Psycadelic of Yesteryear met with the Psychadelic of today when Blue Cheer and The Black Angels played together last night at Emo's indoors (ahhhhhhh, air conditioning). The Angels played a short set with a few songs that are not on their Light In The Attic debut, Passover. They added a second drummer for some songs( A la The Warlocks) and a harmonica player on another. The band is great live and even better when they have the visuals added by Richard Whymark who was M... MORE
Well, onto the actual music. I've got references to The Black Angels sprinked all over the place so how about an actual album review? The Black Angel's released their debut album Passover and, well, it is well on it's way to be my 2006 Album of the Year. Great, Sid likes 'em, big deal. What is the band all about? The first answer might as well be peyote because the album sounds like it was created on many, many buttons of the stuff. The second answer is the Velvet Under... MORE
