Canadian singer/songwriter Sam Roberts released his first true debut in 2002, following a popular demo he had made in Montreal. Before that point, he had been a violin player that eventually moved on to guitar and started a rock band with his friends. After getting a little feature on Much Music, they decided to try their luck in Los Angeles, where they disbanded in 1998. I'd waited a long time (3 years) for SRB to tour (headlining) before I could see them in Los Angeles. They were absolutely amazing. Talk about raw energy and fantastic musicianship, wrapped around brilliant songs. Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommended.

So, I so should be writing my French paper, but I'm not...I'm writing about this instead...last night, I saw Ben Kweller at The Showbox. It was really cool. I was a huge fan. Well, actually I'm not a huge fan in that I don't even have Ben's (we're on a first name basis now) new album. Anyway, this band, Sam Roberts, opened for them. Great opening band.
