The Scottish Ballet's autumn tour incorporates music from Radiohead's album 'Kid A'
Fantastic stuff. They are in London this weekend.
It's finally here. After buying tickets what seems like years ago, the date has finally arrived on the calendar. Apart from them consistently being my favourite band for more than a decade, there's such a huge sense of import around this concert. This is the only band I follow with fan club-like allegiance. Who's music I dote on and analyse and scrutinize. I read all the clippings and reviews as if they were my band. Not to mention every song and album are a testament t... MORE
I was at Radiohead's Boston show in nearby Mansfield on Wed. This was obviously a big deal to me. Radiohead, besides being synonymous with how to do things the right way, is one of those bands that I have been listening to since I first started to search out music on my own. The Bends was among the first 5 albums I ever spent my own hard-won cash on. Don't ask what the others were. They have been with me since that eager beginning. But seeing them live, that was a thing of... MORE
Usually, musical performances on Saturday Night Live are second-rate at best. And then, there's Radiohead performing "The National Anthem."
Completely amazing.
Part 1 - Paranoid Android.
"I want you to go, but we also don't really have the money."
"I get paid on Wednesday, and I've got extra work lined up for the week - if that wasn't the case, I wouldn't even consider it"
"Well, maybe you should just go by yourself then."
"But now I don't know if I want to go by myself..."
When had all this doubt and hesitation begun? When had it become so difficult to go to a concert? I know. It was about 2 and a half years ago. That's when... MORE

I'll get the gripes off my chest to start with: when you host a world-class concert with one of the best bands around graciously headlining Day 1, please remember to fix the mid-field speaker row for those who don't want to fight off 69,999 other punters for a front-of-mixing-desk location!!! Had a nice center spot scoped out directly behind said speakers, but as Bloc Party finished their always-lively set, they went off - then on - and off again, never to return. Radiohe... MORE
Here's an amazing video I found of one of my favorite songs ever:

With the 2007 digital release of their In Rainbows album in the novel "pay what you will" download form, Radiohead once again defied the industry (aka the major labels, aka the folks who stand to lose the most as the way people consume music changes). I remember back in 2000 when, a couple of weeks before the release of their musically groundbreaking Kid A album, Radiohead began streaming the album from their site. It was completely unheard of at the time, years before M... MORE

I never thought that I would go for her. She was never the easy sale, the one that a man would necessarily be drawn to in a crowded room. But once I slowed down enough to drink her in, she was the one for me. She definitely wasn't sold on me either at first, and her rejection of everything I thought was me at the time cut me deep. But I swam in a kind of infatuation that drove me to do whatever it took to gain her favor. Everything she did sparkled magically, and her ... MORE
Those who read my previous post may recall that I was trying to create a mix CD, where track 1 would be the first track from its album, track 2 is the second track on its album, track 3 the third, et cetera. Oh yes, all are from albums released this year (or as Heath astutely noted, that will be released this year). In fact, the impetus for last night's post was that I had found that at least a dozen songs that rank among my favorites this year were all track 2's. Well, ... MORE
