Wondering what to do for the 'Roo? Here's a little advice from a two-year veteran. DO try to arrive as early as you can. Not only are the car-inspection lines (yes, your car will be searched, albeit gently) on Thursday afternoon considerably shorter, but you’ll also likely be directed to camping much closer to the Bonnaroo action. This beats a 15-20 minute walk from your tent to the stage. DO dress smart. Bonnaroo is held in June on a Tennessee farm with limited shade ... MORE
So I stepped out of drum lessons today, and I decided to give "This is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About" by Modest Mouse a first spin. "Dramamine" comes on, and I'm hooked. I look to my left, and I notice a huge amount of smoke. Coming from the direction of my house. I start to walk across the desert towards the flames (very Jim Morrisson-esque). I REALLY REALLY hope this worked this time! I have noo idea how to do this, but i neeed to go to LA to see MM. Seriously.
So here we go, dear music/mog gods. let me win. thanks and goodbye.
This song reminds me of a lot of shizz.. issac is more emotional in this song; never really got to see his emotional side in his earlier tracks
p.s. oh and pls let me win the L.A. show for MM!! never been to a concert and all i want to do is see them. i cant afford anything right now..
so ive been taking in high doses of good indie-guitar-rock albums for the past week. these albums have ranged from pavement's "wowee zowee" to modest mouse's "this is a long drive for someone with nothing to think about". and holy fuck has it been awesome. i had been on a stoner rock/trippy techno kick through most of spetember and it had finally gotten too intense for me, i needed to chill out...so i took some dramamine...
widespread and phish fucked up the whole connotation of the word jam. because of theme everyone thinks jamming is some rediculous thing that takes up way too much time and sounds gay...except for the people who actually dig phish and panic. anyhow id just like to point out that modest mouse got it right on their song make everyone happy/mechanical birds. goddamn they cant do any wrong.
New to the west coast a few years ago, my head was jammed with radio hits. They started sounding really boring and blase...then someone gave me a modest mouse cd and I was introduced to indie rock, an undiscovered treasure cove of awesome music. Thanks, Seattle sound!
