An alphabetical list of great music I found through my fellow Moggers. (great great album!)

I did not have the bucks to continually delve into the new records of 2007. So here are just a few thoughts. Slowly sorting through the cache of single tracks I've picked up free over the past few months from Paste and Emusic and looking into the artists and albums. Love this song and am eager to download more, starting with the title track "Postwar."

It's rare for me to stumble across songs that I like on first hearing. But I woke to this song on my clock radio the other day, and dug it straight away; lyrically and musically. Here's the live version: I've since got the album, and it's a gem.

Yet another song that I must listen to on repeat because it's too short to listen to just once. I mean, just when I feelin' the song it's over :( Yeah, M. Ward is a great musician and Post-War is an awesome album.

I'm nuts about M. Ward. He's full of surprises and has a shmorgasbord of musical styles, crafty stories, layered lyrics, instrumentals galore, and classiness to spare. His voice is like a beautiful raspy violin, ranging passionately between soaring sweetness and gravel-y despair. I really like the new M. Ward album. A lot. Big time. And how. It is the kind of music that makes me want to make more music.

I know there are still a few days left in 2006, and maybe I'll hear something in the next 2 days that will change my list (I should probably wait until April to post this list so the dust can settle and the fat can rise to the top and all). I'd be hard pressed to think of another music video I've seen that I've enjoyed more than M. Ward's video for Chinese Translation. Just perfect. Yes, the song does lend itself to an somewhat easy idea...just illustrating and animating the lyrics to the song. But the execution is just stellar. This is the reason why music videos were invented.
