I discuss the Swedish popster's beautiful debut album with resolute MOG outsider, The Girlfriend (aka Jill). (We stick on new single Breaking It Up; listen to the track in Comments) The GF Ah, that tells you she’s only a child. It’s like a Road Safety song. Me: But she also sings about murdering people for her lover [on Little Bit]. “I’ll climb a mountain, pull a trigger...” The GF: I don’t think she fully understands what that means. Maybe she stayed up past her b... MORE
Aren't I clever? Did you see what I did there? I blame Charley Rogulewski for this one. I honestly only read the post because she said she was a "hottie." While I disagree, I fuckin' like the song. I knew it was a wrap when I picked my little girl up from day care yesterday and she asks to hear "the song we heard this morning." Skipping through the songs on my latest riding CD, it turns out to be...not T.I., not Ludacris, not Lil' Wayne, but... ... MORE
I can't help it, I love Lykke Li remixes! I haven't heard the original versions yet, which will change when the lass' debut album Youth Novels drops in the US on August 19th. But I've been mesmerized by the numerous remixes I've collected in the meantime. Of course, I've been sharing them with you, so here are the latest 2 to add to the mix: "I'm Good, I'm Gone" Black Kids Remix "I'm Good, I'm Gone" Metronomy Remix Straight mp3s, compliments of Tripwire. One of my favourite pop songs of the year has had the DFA Remix treatment. Yes, Tim Goldsworthy has morphed Swedish pop sex kitten Lykke Li's breakthrough single 'Little Bit' into a nine and a half minute floor filler. Pretty good it is too. Download link below. Lykke Li's debut album Youth Novels is out now. mp3:> Lykke Li: 'Little Bit (Loving Hand Remix)'

MOGstars: 9 out of 10 The term "Scandinavian invasion" conjures up images of hirsute men in horned helmets, setting off in their longboats to rape and pillage – yet the latest crop of north European invaders are very different from their Viking forbears. From the feisty Ida Maria to the twee Those Dancing Days, the axe wielding berserkers have given way to indie pop temptresses. Yet it is the demure Lykke Li that has formed the vanguard of this assault, with her debut EP... MORE
Lykke Li, the spritely newcomer from Sweden, has perfectly timed her debut album, Youth Novels, into American culture. Catchy melodies float over sparse and unpredictable production to create music that’s as hip as it is charming. Songs like "Dance dance dance" are sure to be instant classics with the hipster crowd, and luckily, the melody is simple enough that just about any legging and

There's been a lot of love on MOG for Swedish pop startlet Lykke Li as of late so I'm thinking most of you will be psyched to check this new video for her Youth Novels track "Breaking It Up." It's the (sultry) dopeness.
Lykke Li's hiccuping voice sounds like a four-year old singing along to the radio. Yet, on debut single Little Bit, the Swede tells a dark and disturbing tale. This is one pop record that's strictly not for the kiddies. Little Bit is very film noir. It touches on obsessive love, sex, and murder. The leading lady is “too proud for love” but has fallen hard despite herself. As she rather earthily puts it: "For you I keep my legs apart/and forget about my tainted heart". ... MORE
It seems everyone is ga-ga over Lykke Li lately. That is, everybody but me. I appreciate her music and her voice is darling too; it just isn't my cup of tea. But a new diskJokke remix of her "Everybody But Me" tune popped up today and finally I found the facet of Lykke Li that I love! Her voice is enchanting and haunting at the same time while the music is minimal electronica in a Matmos or Brian Eno kind of way. It's absolutely lovely and weird. Not only can you lis... MORE
In some ways Youth Novels is difficult to approach. Many of its themes are inherently feminine. Lykke Li has commented that the songs are all built from her own life experiences and that the album should be thought of a storybook of her young life. (She’s 22/23 now.) As such the album delivers thoughts on [...]

Somethings up with things loading when I look at Mog pages today. Here's something that I've noticed for a while now but just thought I would point out if you haven't noticed. When I click on Lykke Li under Top Artists This Month at the bottom left hand corner it automatically is linked to the page that your already on. Like if I went to Ivy's Ashanti Afrika Jah post and clicked on Lykke Li it would lead you back to that post. Weird. It didn't do it just now. This Ly... MORE
Well, I finally feel comfortable coming back to MOG after the Great Down-for-Maintenance Scare of 2008. Posts were lost! Messages disappeared! No MOGging for hours upon hours! Frankly, it was scary. It just reasserted how attached I’ve become to the site and its denizens. Where would I go if MOG disappeared for more than a quick blip, brain-lock, or visit with Schloopy? (Where has that little furball been anyway?) I’ve come to rely on so many of you music lovers beatin... MORE
