I'm sure the question has all the intrigue of "who is this R.E.M.?" to so many of you culture vulture types, but seriously... Who is this Kelley Stoltz? All I know is that I keep hearing Really nice things about him, and more important, keep perking up my ears when WFMU sneaks him on to a playlist. He's building an impressive track record of "Oh! The best thing about Spaceland in Silver Lake, California is that it really is in a land all its own. It is not possible for an up-and-coming indie band to play Los Angeles without gracing its iconic stage. That said, The Essex Green and Kelley Stoltz were a smart musical pairing for the venue. For what it's worth (not much), I just put together my top 10 list for Harp, and of course, I couldn't get it down to ten. Here are my 25 favorite records for this year with the usual caveats. a) I haven't heard everything (Joanna Newsom, Hold Steady). b) There are a handful of really good records that I haven't spent enough time with (Roots, Decemberists, TV on the Radio, Yo La Tengo). c) I will probably change my mind or remember another one by the end of the day.... I didn't actually make it over to hear Kelley and Scrabbel, as I was in the midst of epic and glorious wedding banquetude and no way I was going to abandon my friends nor the honey-glazed sea bass. If you went you should tell me how awesome it was though.

I'm posting these a bit out of order - Kelley Stoltz was the subject of my fourth video podcast, however he was one of the first ones I ever shot. I noticed his album at number one on the best of the year list from fellow mogger Jenny, so I felt inspired to post it.
