this is a bit old but i just found it again and still love it. I was just driving along a country lane listening to 'baby please don't go' by 'Them' when this happened. I was on my way to record the second album. A great day. I 'd been driving for about ten minutes behind these beasts before I managed to overtake one of them but got stuck behind the rest. Is it just me or is anyone else massively superstitious about magpies, like when you see one (one for sorrow) you have to salute them to deflect the bad luck that it's projecting onto you.
And 2 magpies is good luck, so you don't have to salute there or call out "Hello Mr Magpie" and have strangers turn to you and say,
"Sorry?"
and you have to say,
"Sorry, I was talking to that magpie there."

Franz Ferdinand have announced details for a special Brooklyn show set to take place later next month. The one-off performance is set for October 8 in Brooklyn, NY at the Music Hall of Wiliamsburg. Tickets for the intimate performance are now on sale via Ticketmaster.

Franz Ferdinand have put the finishing touches on their forthcoming album are ready for an early 2009 release. After the album was delayed because remember it was supposed to be released this year, the band has finally finished it. The album is scheduled for an early 2009 release and it will be more danced-influenced. Frontman Alex Kapranos told the BBC: "The last record was fast, furious, frantic, 150 beats per minute, It was like a teenager having sex. London shows from this Thursday... Kamerakino play their debut London and indeed, UK show this thursday at the Macbeth in Hoxton (some of you saw us play there a couple of months back).
You can get a copy of the new album "Munich Me Mata" NOW! on spectacular full colour vinyl from Rough Trade.
My advice to you is to go out and buy it today, listen to it nonstop, go see them on Thursday and Friday and Saturday and finally at Barden's Boudour on Sunday night.
