Cream at Madison Square Garden, New York, NY, October 25, 2005. This wasn't Cream quite like most people remember them. Yes, it was actually the original members, a pretty rare feat this days in reuniting bands, but they are not cranking out psychedlic blooze like they did the first time around. This was Cream for the Eric Clapton crowd: extraordinarily well-put-together, high-level musicianship, solos in all the right places, and not too challenging. And if you thin... MORE

Upon this street where time has died.
The golden treat you never tried.
In times of old, in days gone by.
If I could catch your dancing eye.
It was on the way,
On the road to dreams, yeah.
Now my heart's drowned in no love streams, yeah.
The street is cold, its trees are ... MORE

One of my resolutions this year is to organize my CD collection. I started out all gung-ho about it, but my project is losing inertia. I've been swimming in stacks of mix CDs for the past few weeks, trying to listen to them & re-label them. Tonight, I came across a great mix I made back in 2001. I Feel Free was the first track. I remember playing this song out when I left for college that year. This little video shows the trio frolicking about in the park. They def... MORE
What are the greatest rock riffs?
Disraeli Gears has got to be one of the greatest albums, and Sunshine Of Your Love has THE riff. It's a perfect demonstration of the power of Cream as a trio, the heaviness they could put across with just 3 instruments, the beauty of the melody, the artistry of Pete Brown's words, and great singing. Here's the story of the song:
Give us a few more suggestions.
More from Rolling Stone: Clapton has created an all-star line-up to close out his most recent tour in July. He is having a rock star super fest at chicago's toyota park in july. so far he has everyone lined up from blues to rock and he plans on jamming with as many of them as possible. BB king, i think dylan (maybe), john mayer, sheryl crow, the blind faith guys (YES he IS going to play blind faith songs for the first time since the band broke up in 1969..., willie nel... MORE
The forward-to-new and back-to-basics infection continues to grow in the cubs... So, my son (Kennon) asks the other day "I didn't know Clapton did so much music with so many people?" (Yes, that's a question.) I didn't say much... just whipped out the music and played some:YardbirdsJohn Mayall and the BluesbreakersCreamBlind FaithDerek and the DominosUnplugged Ending with Sunshine of your Love. He didn't say anything... he just went to the music room, picked up his Ve... MORE
