EDIT Got the video back up. Hopefully it'll not be taken down by the voodootube again. Getting my life in order. I almost wrote "odder" which is actually what it feels like right now. But, I had to come back because I saw this video: I love the album, "Cease To Begin". It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, like one of those beards those mofos are sporting. And like fake bottlesmashing, too. OK, wish me luck on returning to life.

Back in March, I had the chance to attend a concert at my favorite local music venue, The Showroom, for a regional musician named Tyler Ramsey, who hails from Asheville, NC, which is about an hour away from where I currently reside. Recently, Band Of Horses were approached by Wal-Mart for a licensing deal which would incorporate one of their songs in what would be a net-based ad campaign for the department store chain. But fans found out about the deal and were furious. "My personal stance," band-leader Ben Bridwell wrote in response to the furious fans, "is that once that music is recorded and released to the world then I don't really care where it goes." We went to see Band of Horses this past weekend at The Palladium in Dallas. I don't feel like writing a lengthy review, but the show was great overall. It's a good thing we saw them when we did, because they have recently had to cancel a few dates (according to their MySpace page). Saw these guys at The Hi-Tone here in Memphis and it was by far one of the best live performances I've seen. This band is unbelievable and I can't wait to see what they come out with next.

It's just recently that I've come across Band of Horses, but I can't thank my friend enough for encouraging me to take a listen. I'll just keep it simple. This song pulls me in with soothing tones and puts me completely at peace. Like a mother holding you close and singing you to sleep. Then it kicks it into full gear and rocks. Then lulls you back to sleep the same way it brought you in. Enjoy.

It's very rare when an artist comes along and grabs my attention so intensely that I fall deeply and completely in love with them. In fact, the last artist to have that effect on me was Death Cab For Cutie and that head-over-heels infatuation began in 2002. So, you could say, they are few and far between.   My new adoration is with Band of Horses. A good friend of mine told me to download "No One's Gonna Love You" from Cease to Begin. I'm not sure if the babelfish translation did that justice, but I must say that I'm in love with Band of Horses. I just got back from a week in Costa Rica and Cease to Begin definitely got me through those 6 hour bus rides (not to mention the three flights it took to get there and the three to get back... As if there already wasn't enough enough kick-ass bands from Seattle, Band of Horses has come swiftly galloping into the scene. After receiving immense attention on tour with Iron and Wine, the band signed with popular indie label Sub Pop Records. Since then, they have released two albums. I really liked the debut album, Everything All The Time, by Band of Horses, but the more recent one, Cease to Begin, just didn't do it for me as a whole. Sure, the single "Is There A Ghost?," is excellent, and "Marry Song" is even better, but overall I found it disappointing. Here's the video for "Marry Song."

Bafflism. There are voices that come out of people that for the life of me i wouldnt expect.Katherine Jenkins looks like a christmas tree fairy, but her voice is so powerful albeit she's an opera singer... But my point lies in hearing the increasing amount of mid-western american singers whose voices sound like they've had the worst day of their lives.
