Though steeped in jazz, this little tune, written by Michael Brecker and Don Grolnick, has some serious funk under pinnings. Taken from Michael's second solo recording of the same name.
On January 13, 2007, Michael Brecker died from complications of leukemia.
He was 57 years old.

Another great cut from the great canadian secret.
Change of Season
If they dropped the bomb
Would you love me then
If I was wrong
Would it be okay
Well I can see holes in everyone
A change of season
If I found a way
To make amends
Would you say I was too late
Well I can find
The holes on anyone
A change of season
A change of season
I feel like I’m losing for money
I feel like I’m losing for free
I feel older than the dead angel on my shoulder claims to be
I feel like we’re drinking and driving
I feel like we’re running into walls
I feel like swimming in your apathy
You know I’d love to be your conscience when it calls
If they made me crawl
Would you love me then
If I was small
Would it be okay
Well I can see
The need in everyone
A change of season
A change of season
I feel like I’m losing for money
I feel like I’m losing for free
I feel older than the dead angel on my shoulder claims to be
I feel like we’re drinking and driving
I feel like we’re running into walls
I feel like swimming in your apathy as a kind of parody
For miles and miles, miles
I feel like somebody’s missing
I feel like somebody’s missing
I think somebody’s missing

I like this song--the music is kind of hypnotic (and his voice)
The words.....desperate, huh? But some hope in there, too (I think)
If I were a carpenter
And you were a lady
Would you marry me anyway
Would you have my baby
If a tinker were my trade
Would you still find me
Carrying the pots I'd made
Following behind me
Save my love through loneliness
Save my love for sorrows
I've given you my onliness
Come give me your tomorrows
If I worked my hands in wood
Would you still love me
Answer me babe
say "yes I would I'll put you above me"
If I were a miller
At a mill wheel grinding
Would you miss your colored blouse
Your soft shoe shining
If I were a carpenter
And you were a lady
Would you marry me anyway
Would you have my baby
Would you marry me anyway And have my babyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Bassist/Guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Miles Nielsen, co-owner of the Rockford, IL studio Fuse, son of Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen, is also a member of Cory Chisel and the Wandering Sons. I'm liken the sparse arrangement of this performance. I'm feelin mellow tonight,

Mr. Brecker was no stranger to the funk..He played with Bootsy and James Brown and that was just the B's. Nice one.
