MOG MOG

THE MUSIC BLOGGING NETWORK

(256)

Imagine this:

Scene 1: Girl with ruby red cheeks, blue tights, and a flower in her curled tresses, is seated daintily in a gritty NY subway train seat, head down, scribbling in her diary.

Scene 2: Boy runs into a train headed downtown in NYC and sees her sitting there. This 21 year old boy (Patrick Moberg) feels instantly, this is the girl of his dreams. What song flooded through his mind? The Mamas and Papas....'flowers in her hair....'? Who knows...

Scene 3: This brief encounter was enough to spur the slightly desperate, heart-struck, young braveheart (read: Brooklyn graphic designer) to draw and post her description on a website he created (too bad he was not a mogger..woulda been easier...)along with his mobile phone number, email address and an appeal for help in finding her....(see www.nygirlofmydreams.com)

Scene 3: Amazingly, in a city of eight million people, romantic bloggers and friends alike started emailing and passing along the news. Web currents fly. Phones Ring. The Aussie chick, named Camille, who lives in Brooklyn and works for Blackbook, was found, since one of her co-workers scrolled through Gawker or other gossip blog while bored at work......we've all been there.

Scene 4: (Forget the first date. It went super_). They show up on Diane Sawyer the day after their first date. Diane chuckles and asks if they believe it was fate. They nod. Commercials roll.

ahhhh young love in this world of Information Technology.

Now I am just waiting for a band to capitolize on the idea of a music video. How about the Darkness?

ps check out nygirlofmydreams.com for his final sketch :)

Pretty lady, I feel I must ask you to please pardon my swearing since we are just meeting for the first time, but may I say that this is just a great fuckin' song! That singer is wonderful, what a sweet tenor falsetto! I haven't heard a voice like that, well, I dunno since I discovered the Smiths . . . or, well, there's more power in there, almost Freddie Mercuryesque, but with occasional grit. Then there's this almost ELO thing. I feel almost nostalgic, though I've never heard it before. The upshot is that it's making me super happy in a 1975 roller rink kind of way. Thanks!!

I'm down with any guy who decides a girl is his dream before hearing her say a single word.

Personalities are so cumbersome.

Haha... I didn't know whether I think the guy is crazy (damn, he didn't even TALK to her...), or whether he's just really really good with his instincts... but I'll settle for the latter... I used to think it's silly to believe in love at first sight, but life taught me otherwise... so I guess this boy got it right. Congratulations to them...

Hopefully the College Radio kid graduates soon, so he has a chance in hell of spelling "accelorator"

Darkness kept with the ELO theme for their video as well:

yeah James I know...know you know when you hear the next movie Katie Holmes is in she plays a chick from black book. perfect casting.

micki i believe in first sight too. but it happened a bit diff for me. and nor did it work out so romantic.

But next time you see someone zoom by in train or car...you know what to do :)

I watched this clip online the other day. I have to admit that it made me smile. Win, lose, or draw, I admire the guy for going all out the way he did.

This is the second time I've seen this cartoon on MOG. The discussion was different that time, liked the tune and the happy ending. I think it was his handwriting that did it,

yeah i've been kinda obsessed with the concept. Though it's been all over the news, like Brit and her overdose, and evidently mogged, the premise gave me a little faith.....(so sorry for the redundancy Cody but hey, maybe there are more romantics out there than we thought :) ).....WHOS THAT LADY? hehe

yes, a sweet heartstruck desire to kiss you every hour of every day...It makes me wish I could get my voice that high when I sing out by my fire pit....did you know when my wife gets angry, she can actually make the wind change direction to blow the flames and sparks in my face.....she must be an AIR BENDER like ANG....but yes, I also believe in a thing called love....

Watched Diane Sawyer's interview and haven't heard anything else online about this romantic gesture until here on MOG. Don't know where the relationship goes from here but the pursuit was very edge of the seat with a happy ending just like a flick. Great choice on choosing Darkness. I had a chance to catch them on Letterman when that song came out as a single and couldn't help but smile. So over the top and so infectious.

The college DJ and his lap incident on the bus just cracks me up. If I posted that up for everytime that happened to me - I'd have a string of unsuccessful dates and possibly a restraining order or two. *lol

...maybe it's the drawing and type that got me....

...now let's see how long before that site gets updated with someone new... ha ha...

This is adorable. I'm 30 and I'm still waiting to fall into some random guy's lap when the driver hits the accelerator. I think I'm going to skip the free seat next time and just go for the hand grips--may increase my chances. This song's chorus is most definitely going to play on my wedding day exactly after the moment the minister says "You may now kiss the bride..." KACHOW!

Fun post!
