I Just got home from seeing Sigur Ros. Swooooooooooooooon. The deed is done. I can die... right after I see them again. I was sitting up on the third tier, where I got a great view of the band as well as everyone's iphone.

The acoustics at Benaroya Hall are amazing. The band couldn't sound any better live. Before the show started, my friend Bergy and I took bets on which song they would open with. He was thinking the epic "Festival" would be perfect, and I went with the safe "Glosoli" which I would unexpectedly not hear all night. That and not hearing "Olsen Olsen" would probably be the only downside to the whole evening. Also the missing accompaniment of quartet Amiina was definitely noticed, but now I'm just splitting hairs. Kjartan (with bright blue shoes) Jon (with fashionable mullet) Georg (with quaint top hat) and Orri (crown and pink pants) took the stage at approximately 9:09 pm, opening with a surprising choice.
The set list that my huge brain remembered goes as follows:
1) Heysatan
2) All Alright
3) Untitled #6 (aka E-Bow)
4) Ny Batteri
5) Untitled #4 (aka Njosnavelin)
6) Vid Spilum Endalaust
7) Hoppipolla
8) Meo Blodnasir
9) Inni Mer Syngur Vitleysingur
10) Vidar Vel Til Loftarasa
11) Saeglopur
12) Festival
13) Gobbledigook
Encore
14) Fljotavik
15) Untitled #8 (aka Popplagio)
During "Vidar Vel Til Loftarasa" the band paused, and just stood their for a good 30 seconds or so. The entire concert hall went silent. I'm talking dead air, and everyone was holding their breath for what felt like an eternity. "Festival" would earn a much deserved standing ovation, and some of the fun visual elements included small cameras hidden inside their pianos. It even started snowing confetti during "Gobbledigook."

I swear when I got home I found little pieces of colored paper in places I never imagined. They ended their show with the twelve minute monster, "Popplagio." I will forever have that performance burned into my brain. It's just something that has to be experienced first hand.

That sounds just amazing. I am indescribably jealous!
You may die now, but I must keep holding out for a show near me!
Thinking of Saeglopur live just gives me the shivers. In a good way.

Sounds absolutely breath-taking, Sam! Very happy for ya :)
"I swear when I got home I found little pieces of colored paper in places I never imagined" that's just TMI, man....

I'm so jealous! That sounds wonderful.
but I don't think I've ever heard the words "fashionable mullet" together before :)

laura: stay strong. if you believe, they will come. and it was awesome but festival took the cake.
anna: for real. everyone left little colored breadcrumb trails. in the elevator i found them in the inside of my coat pockets, then driving home i found one inside my shirt, then when i got home i found a handful hiding in my sweatshirt pocket. it didnt help that i was about 10 feet from the cannon that blasted the stuff...
cinful: thanks, im actually surprised at the turnout. sold out show.
deg: trust me, he pulls it off! i just wished i could get a pic with the guys.

your big head...excuse me, brain...couldn't hold this one:
Með Blóðnasir (which I'm pretty sure came after Hoppipolla...)
ahh...the audience joining in with whooo-ooo....ahhhh. :) more than a minor detail.
did you take any other photos? i would love to see them...
quite the experience though. i still can't die until i hear glosoli, but there's still hope.
did you actually remember that much of the set list, though? i'm thoroughly impressed. i can always remember the first and last few, but the middle gets all muddled.

awwww come on, thats like cheating... of course they played meo blodnasir. its practically an afterthought to hoppipolla. its just like straumnes to fljotavik, or intro to glosoli. they come in pairs. but technically i guess youre right. damnit.
i didnt take too many pics. probably one or two others that turned out. but i do have a few cool videos. like of jon shredding up during ny batteri.
