No, not me, but Ray Morrissey can claim to be the UK's most prolific concert-goer attending over 5,000 gigs in 35 years. On piles of notebook pages in Mr Morrissey's front room, thousands of gigs are listed, one per line, all with a mark out of 10 circled at the end.

RAY'S TOP 10 LIVE BANDS 1. Sex Pistols 2. The Clash 3. Kiss 4. AC/DC 5. U2 6. David Bowie 7. The Rolling Stones 8. The Who 9. Thin Lizzy 10. Van Halen

Well I wouldn't disagree with Nos 1 and 2. And the first time I saw U2 (1982?) they were pretty exciting but not top 10. And I'd go for 6 through 8, but Thin Lizzy? Nah. I would add The Ramones and Talking Heads and Zep and Prince and Neil Young back in 76, but who the hell counts and rates except a guy with far too much time and far too little on his mind?

I'm not a big concert goer anymore but of all the shows I have seen or worked at this would be my top 10:

1) Johnny Cash at Carnegie Hall NYC

2) The Who at The Meadowlands NJ

3) The Lounge Lizards at Mercury Lounge NYC

4) Latin Playboys at Tramps NYC

5) Kris Kristofferson at The Bottom Line NYC

6) Devo at The Ritz NYC

7) Squeeze at The Ritz NYC

8) Fugazi at Roseland Ballroom NYC

9) Iggy Pop at Roseland Ballroom NYC

10a) Tool at Roseland Ballroom NYC

10b) P.I.L. at Radio City Music Hall NYC

The order is subjective but if I had a true #1 concert it would be Johnny Cash at Carnegie, hands down.

My 1 - 10 are all raves. Of which I can remember little. I might go to a hypnotist in an attempt to dredge up some memories. I've been told I had a wonderful time.
