THE MUSIC BLOGGING NETWORK

From the New York Times:

KCRW, a Santa Monica, Calif., public radio station, has named Jason Bentley as its new music director and host of its influential show "Morning Becomes Eclectic," effective Dec. 1, the station said. Mr. Bentley, who has worked at KCRW in various capacities (including as a phone volunteer while still in college), has also worked as a music producer and record executive, and as the music supervisor for the soundtracks to the "Matrix" movies. He will take over the position and the hosting duties from Nic Harcourt, the British-born D.J. who, as host of "Morning Becomes Eclectic," helped introduce audiences to artists including Coldplay, Norah Jones and Franz Ferdinand. Mr. Harcourt will continue to host a Sunday night show on the station.

I've always been a Jason Bentley fan!

personally, I think they should have paid him morem if that was the issue.  I'm not even a resident of LA and I know exactly who he is and I seek out copies of the live performances from his show.  he says that he wants to spend more time with his family, but, c'mon...  you don't just give up a gig like that!  Oh well, all things change.  i wish him the best.

I love this show as well and really enjoyed Nic Harcourt's opinions and views on music.  I thought he was great, but am excited to see what Jason Bentley can do with the show.

If you listen in on KCRW right now - Beck is playing a live acoustic set and then picking his favorite 10 songs and creating a playlist.

It apparently wasn't a matter of money. Besides he makes a fortune doing consulting and music supervising(not to mention his thriving VO career). He achieved his goal being on MBE. For Jason its a chance to show that his musical tastes are far more ranging than just a electronic/dance show (and he's been moving away from playing solely electronica over the past 2 years anyway) Personally I prefer Jason's voice over Nic's and there was only so much Rachel Yamagata i wanted to listen to.
