So much eaiser than last year. So many great albums. I told myself that I hadn't listen to nearly as many albums as last year. I was wrong. Usually I have trouble finding those ten really good albums but this year is different.
I have 14 albums that all have to make the list. I have nine albums that I still haven't decided on. I have 18 albums that I still haven't taken in............although I know they all have a lot of potential.
So...................this coming month will get me up to speed and I am really looking forward to making my list this year. One thing is certain.............I have listened to these 14 albums and I've loved them all!
Mates of States - Re-Arrange Us
Sun Kil Moon - April
Damien Jurado - Caught In The Trees
The Notwist - The Devil, You + Me
Girl Talk - Feed the Animals
The Strugglers - The Latest Rights
The Kills - Midnight Boom
The Breeders - Mountain Battles
The New Year - The New Year
Lambchop - Oh (Ohio)
Fleet Foxes - Ragged Wood
The Accidental - There Were Wolves
A. A. Bondy - American Hearts
Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago

I have been donating money to UNICEF every month for the past 4 years. It's a small amount but this is what I'm able to afford. Reading about the conflict in Congo makes me want to do more. I have no more money to give but I have EPs to sell.
For the rest of 2008 the money I make selling my "Home and Other Places I'd Like To Visit" EP will go to UNICEF. When you buy my EP directly from CDBABY I get 91% of the 6 dollars. All of that money will go to UNICEF. If you buy the EP from iTunes, Napster etc etc I will make a little less since they will take a cut as well. Bottom line..........the money transferred to my account will go directly to UNICEF.
So......................either buy my EP here or send the 6 dollars directly to an organisation of your own choice.
Thanks!
Henry

November is here, so I'm all over this. That's lovely of you, Henry. You are a good man, despite of what the others say ;P

In march 2007 I had just bought a copy of "Lemon of Pink" by The Books. It blew me away. Yesterday while listening to this amazing piece of work I remembered my post here at MOG. I still want everyone to hear this album. Whenever I listen to those songs I think that everyone should hear it.
This is still among my favorite albums. I never get tired of it. It always makes me very happy and I for some reason I love listening to music that's far far away from the kind of music I would ever be able to make.
I'm resposting what I wrote back then............and let me ask you. Did you make sure to check out this great album?
........................
Yesterday I bought the Lemon of Pink album by The Books. Today I took it with me on my daily bike-ride going downtown. I was blown away. This is like nothing I've heard before. I am amazed by the amount of work these guys must have put into this. Eveything is so perfect and the sound is as warm as today's weather. I hear so much joy and love of life in these songs. I am extremely happy right now. Almost high. I made it to my destination before the album ended but I had to walk around listening to the very end. I could not put it down. This could end up being my favorite album this year.
I hope every single mogger sees this. Perfect album for the season and it really is like reading a good book. It saves me from the world, draws beautiful pictures only I can see and make me want to pick it up again and again and again.
If the last piece on the album does not make you smile and giggle......then there is something wrong with you.
Your loyal provider of good news.
Henry

I agree with the half of that list that I've listened to. good stuff. 2008 has been a pretty great year for music hasn't it?
For me 2008 will be very difficult to sort through. So many good albums! How to even begin to make a list! Help help help!
this must be the first list this year. I always enjoy your picks-- they give me others to search out.
