Artist: Album: William (Single 1984) Track: William, It Was Really Nothing, How Soon Is Now?, Please Please Let Me Get What I Want
Other Tags: Vinyl Rip

I have been steadily digitizing my albums. Tonight this one was on deck.

This is a vinyl rip from a record that has been played more times than I can remember.

The single I hope you are listening to now came out in 1984, August to be exact.

These songs didn't make it to their self titled studio debut. Why, I don't know. But they were nice enough to add the songs on the second album 'Hatful of Hollow'.

The tracks that are on this single will stand the test of time.

Enjoy 'William'. Perhaps for the first time all over again.

The (apologies to Ivy for stealing his thunder) Merry Prankster Of The Right left this little gem of a comment on my last post.

"But Chris, This is addressed to you. I should not have posted such a curt comment in my haste to finish and get to work. What I wanted to ask was how to you complie such a compendium of factoids so quickly? Did you do any research to verify any of these things. It seems some of them have been debunked in the time I was at work. Whatever. I think before you assert that something is a fact you should be sure it is. I'm not saying any of the above is or isn't fact, I don't know, and neither do you. So why repeat it? Indeed, why report it?"

I really don't think DMDM knows what kind of 'do diligence' I try to put into everything I write. Sure you will see spelling errors here and there but overall I try my darnedest to get the facts straight. Most if not all of my posts are time consuming and to publish them half assed would be a disservice to you the reader and to myself the writer. Honestly, I have way more respect for you than DMDM gives me credit for.

Okay, so I made 2 minor mistakes. She was schooled in Idaho and she fired her State Trooper Chief. That really doesn't qualify as spreading rumor.

I can't wait to hear all about how it's the 'liberal media' that is diseminating these lies.

Fact: Sarah Palin has a Bachelors Degree in journalism from Ohio State (actually it was from Idaho).
Source: The Dallas Morning News Aug. 30, 2008
Quote: "Ms. Palin has a journalism degree from the University of Idaho and became interested in politics after reporting on Alaska's government as a TV reporter for Anchorage's NBC affiliate, KTUU. She also covered sports."

Fact: Sarah Palin got her first passport last year.
Source:
New York Times Aug 29, 2008
Quote: "Ms. Palin appears to have traveled very little outside the United States. In July 2007, she had to get a passport before she visited members of the Alaska National Guard stationed in Kuwait, according to her deputy communications director, Sharon Leighow."

Fact: The state of Alaska has a total population of around 640,000.
Source: Alaska.com
Quote: According to the 2000 census of Alaska's 626,932 people, the population can be described this way:

  • White, 434,534, or 69.31 percent of the population
  • American Indian or Alaska Native, 98,043, or 15.64 percent
  • Two or more races, 34,146, or 5.45 percent
  • Asian, 25,116, or 4.00 percent
  • Black or African American, 21,787, or 3.48 percent
  • Native Hawaiian and other Pacific Islander, 3,308, or 0.53 percent
  • Some other race, 9,997, or 1.60 percent

Fact: Sarah Palin's 17 year old daughter is pregnant out of wedlock. This is the daughter of a woman who supports abstinence-only education and says she is for "Traditional Family Values"
Source: Eagle Forum Alaska
Quote: "Yes, the explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support."

Fact: Sarah Palin is under investigation for the wrongful firing of a state trooper (my bad, it was the the troopers chief) who happens to be the ex husband of Sarah's sister.
Source:
Washington Post Aug 30, 2008
Quote: "
Palin is under investigation to determine whether she pressured and then fired the state police chief in July because he refused to dismiss her former brother-in-law. At the time, the governor's younger sister was involved in a bitter divorce and child custody dispute with the man, a state trooper. A bipartisan committee of the state legislature voted unanimously to hire a retired prosecutor to investigate."

Fact: Sarah Palin is very interested to get oil companies to begin drilling in ANWR. She is also against protecting salmon fisheries from harmful mining runoff.
Source: New York Times Aug 29. 2008 'An Outsider Who Charms"
Quote: "This month, Ms. Palin issued a last-minute statement of opposition to a ballot measure that would have provided added protections for salmon from potential contamination from mining, an action seen as crucial to its defeat. Her intense pursuit of a pipeline to deliver natural gas from the North Slope of Alaska to market in the Lower 48 led to what her administration has claimed as a major triumph: the Legislature this summer approved her plan to give a $500 million subsidy to TransCanada, a Canadian company, to help build the project."

Fact: Sarah Palin has no, I repeat, no foreign policy or diplomatic experience. I hardly equate a trip to visit troops as diplomatic experience.
Source:
Foreign Policy Passport Aug. 29, 2008
Quote: "A cursory search for Sarah Palin's foreign policy credentials comes up with, well, nothing."

Fact: Sarah Palin's running mate is 72 years old. If elected John McCain will be the oldest sitting president in 2008.
Source: Wiki Entry
Quote: "John Sidney McCain III (born August 29, 1936) is the senior United States Senator from Arizona and presumptive presidential nominee of the Republican Party in the 2008 presidential election."

Fact: Sarah Palin said she has no idea what the Vice President does. Honestly, she's not the only one, many people including sitting VP's who don't know what the Vice President does.
Source: Interveiw with Larry Kudlow, CNBC June 25, 2008
Quote: Well just watch it yourself.

Fact: She has admitted to smoking pot when it was legal under Alaskan Law but illegal under Federal Law.
Source:
Anchorage Daily News August 6, 2006
Quote:
"Palin said she has smoked marijuana -- remember, it was legal under state law, she said, even if illegal under U.S. law -- but says she didn't like it and doesn't smoke it now."
'I can't claim a Bill Clinton and say that I never inhaled.'

Overall I would say that my facts are correct and I will stand by what I wrote and once again Jeff, your peeing on your own feet.

So much for the 'Post Blighter'. Guess I needed the right muse.

I will freely admit when I heard the news that John McCain had picked a women for his Vice President I thought, "What a coup." Here the Republican candidate was doing something Obama couldn't do, he got a women on the ticket. "Fecking Brilliant!", I told my Republican co-workers followed by exclamations of "Now it should get interesting!" Well that was then and this is now and I feel a bit different since I got to know Sarah Palin a little more.

We all know it's not hard to find conjecture on the Internet, Rumors fly at the speed of keystrokes and someone's name can be dragged though so many kinds of mud in a matter of minutes if not seconds. So I will try to stay away from conjecture and far out suppositions. I will endeavor to remain neutral-ish (I like good theatrics as much as anyone else) in the post, but anything goes in comments.

Sure there is more but I will leave it to you to bring what you have learned to the table.
