Dan Deacon! How I love thee!
As I confess my love for an Urkel frame-wearing art collective founder it is important to note that said love inspiration is releasing a new album. While Bromst (see album art below), will sadly lack Deacon 's signature electro-acoustic melodies in the form of love songs dedicated to moi, the album is still stark full of electro-acoustic melodies already being tagged as "richer" and "denser" than those on Deacon's epic Spiderman of the Rings. Among the elements fattening up Bromst are piano, marimba, glockenspiel, vibraphone, lots of live drumming, winds and brass. Not sure yet if Bromst includes any Wham City singalongs (amamamammaa!) but it does include 12 new cuts. You can stream "Get Older," a track that according to Camp Deacon is about "realizing that aging, growth and change should be embraced , not feared" and "that the music is more about celebration than a party" and "that the party's not over, it's just not a drunken rager anymore" ... Your loss Dan Deacon. You were more attractive when I was drunk. ( I kid!) Anyways, where was I... you can stream "Get Older" here.

The rest becomes readily available March 24th via Carpark Records.
If that wasn't enough the newly matured Dan Deacon splurges even further sharing cred on a new limited edition split 12" with DJ buddy Adventure. Only 1000 of these bad boys will be put out into circulation. Tracks include "Poison Diamonds," an 8 bit Lego masterpiece built by a 10 year old living on another planet; "Cave Birth," a five-channel layer improvisation for feedback and voice; "Lifeguard," with lyrics inspired by Deacon after Benny (aka Adventure) played him the instrumental track.
And for you lucky New Yorkers you'll be able to hear some Bromst cuts when Deacon plays Brooklyn's Danbro Studio Warehouse.
Bromst tracklist:
1. Build Voice
2. Red F
3. Paddling Ghost
4. Snookered
5. Of The Mountains
6. Surprise Stefani
7. Wet Wings
8. Woof Woof
9. Slow With Horns / Run For Your Life
10. Baltihorse
11. Get Older

my roommate showed me a video from a Deacon concert where e played the soundtrack to a movie he made by splicing together a bunch of Arnold Schwartzennegger (that is spelled wrong probably). since then i haven't really listened to Deacon much, but this album sounds interesting and i think i will buy it.
I too love Dan Deacon!!! It's always nice when you find someone else loves the artist it feels like you have in your back pocket.
Spider-man of the Rings was, as they say in the street, too dope. So no doubt I'm going to have to check this album out...

Unless you live in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Germany this Radiohead story will probably just annoy you. Thom Yorke and co. are heading back out on an early spring tour which will hit up spots all over Latin America. If Radiohead wasn't enough to get your money's worth, the band has recruited electronica pioneers Kraftwerk to do it with them.
Not that Kraftwerk has the same pull as they once did. Only one original member remains in the band after the departure of founding member Florian Schneider following the band's 2008 world tour. Regardless March dates are looking positive for another US or Euro leg of the In Rainbows tour this summer.

Radiohead In Rainbows tour:
March 15:For Sol, Mexico City
March 16: For Sol, Mexico City
March 20: Praca da Apoteose, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
March 22: Chacara Do Jockey, Sao Paulo, Brazil
March 24: Club Ciduad, Buenos Aires, Argentina
March 26: San Carlos De Apoquindo, Santiago, Chile
March 27: San Carlos De Apoquindo, Santiago, Chile
April 25: Altes Heizkraftwerk, Wolfsburg, Germany
April 26: Altes Heizkraftwerk, Wolfsburg, Germany

One of the benefits of Kraftwerk must be that no-one really knows (or cares?) who the band members are. But I always did like the flow of their names....Ralf and Florian....it fits so perfectly with what and who the band were. Think I'll break out Man-Maschine.
4 guys playing synthesizers is definitely not for me...never liked Kraftwerk...although I'd sit through them to see Radiohead! The last thing I ever heard from them was Trans Europe Express, and that was what...like 25 years ago? I don't know if many would care anymore except those in Germany.
Most Brits (over a certain age,of course)..will remember being introduced to Kraftwerk by the pop science and technology t.v show "Tommorrows World" ..and if you check out that wiki' link you will see they feature as a notable highlight in thirty years of that iconic show
Here is that appearance ,thanks to "solaractivity"..(whatta star!)
No wonder they came over as nerdy, they were more a science project than a band!..but you cant deny the tangential influence they still wield, and the,odd beauty of tracks like "The Model"
I also well remember being freaked-out by stumbling upon a broadcast of the full-length version of "Autobahn" on the radio, and wondering what the hell it was...
