You'd think that after the 14-17 years that it took to make Axl's Chinese Democracy (and the estimated $15 million) the long-awaited album would hav secured teh Number One chart position around the world. You thought wrong.

In a week that saw new albums from major platinum selling acts like Coldplay and Kanye West, Chinese Democracy placed second behind the Killers' third album Day & Age. Day & Age took only a year and a half to complete, and was made probably made for the price Axl spent on slurpees while recording Chinese Democracy.

The US chart results will be released on Wednesday. And if iTunes is any indication of how things will end up across the pond, Axl Rose looks poised for another blow. Kanye West's 808s & Heartbreaks is the NUmber One seller thus far on the internet retailer, followed by the Twilight soundtrack and the Killers at Number Three, putting Chinese Democracy in at Number Four? Nah, guess again. It's Number Seven on iTunes.

The moral of the story don't wait 14-17 years to put out an album.

Oh, snap!

Oh, well - its still making money though, right?  And Axl will tour it - which will make him boat-loads of more money.

I'm sorry - what's the point here?  Are we supposed to feel sorry for him or mock him?  Neither applies.

Mocking him applies...LOL!

i wouldn't feel sorry for him. there has been little promotion behind this album. the killers were on Kimmel last week, Kanye West hit up Letterman and Conan. And Axl? Where in the world is Axl Rose? Cornrolls has been quite MIA for this big week.

I, for one, would love to see this album struggle just to mess with Axl's God complex...

I agree with opposite...I hope it tanks. GNR hasn't been relevant since Welcome, IMO.

We've had 5 albums from Tupac in the past 12 years, And He's Dead!

Actually I applaud Axl for sucking all that money out of "Big Record Company", dragging them along for 14 years and then giving them a big bag of manure for all their troubles. To me it sounds like he's getting back at the industry for whatever reason.

Y'Know, to make a wierd comparison...Chinese Democracy is The Phantom Menace of the music world.  Make people wait this long, and their bound to have their expectations sky high.  Even if the album was the second coming on vinyl, it wouldn't have been good enough for the hardcore GNR fans that have been waiting for a decade and a half for it.

Axl having to eat crow is simply a pleasant side effect.
