MOG MOG

Track:
(16)

tonight comes from Mali, with another piece for kora and voices. The trio's name means "big string" in Mandinka. The guitar is played by Jalimadi Tounkara of the Super Rail Band, Bouba Sacko plays the kora, and Lafia Diabate (more commonly to be heard fronting a big pop band) sings. The title translates as "you please me".

Damn, I wish I could hear the song.  I absolutely love Kora music.  Toumani Djiabate is the man!

ah, cool. thanks.  sounds sweet.  such nice polyrhythms in there.  most of the kora music I've heard doesn't include singing, but I enjoy his voice.  I wish I knew what he was saying.

For some reason, this cut matches your avatar perfectly. It's staring-out-to-sea-on-a-beautiful-day music....
